New Logo and Identity for Patreon Done In-house and Wolff Olins
As a Patreon user for 4 years now, I was really happy when I’ve heard of this rebrand.
I’ve never thought of Patreon as a brand itself, but as a platform to see my favourite content creator (specially podcasters).
It is true that, for a place where I listen a lot of hours of audio and video content, the interface wasn’t the best for that effect.
Established in 2013, Patreon is a membership and publishing platform for artists and creators that allows them to monetize their efforts by connecting them directly with their fans and supporters. Through Patreon, creators establish an individualized presence where fans can explore their latest work, connect through community group chats, and browse digital products in their shop, allowing each creator to set their own prices and the benefits and perks their fans receive.
Our new logo does not have an exact canonical form, there isn’t one definitive Patreon logo.
Created by developer Sam Yam and musician Jack Conte, who was looking for a way to make a living from his YouTube videos, Patreon now has over 8 million monthly active members supporting more than 250,000 creators and has paid out over $3.5 billion over the last ten years. Earlier this month, along with launching new features and an entirely redesigned mobile app, Patreon introduced a new identity designed in-house and by Wolff Olins with support from Dinamo.
